A movement making sustained attempts at creating inroads towards deeper reflections on ideas of success and whether a single focused definition of success from education works for all young people.

In Conversation with Dr. Avinav Kumar, State Quality In-charge - Jharkhand Education Jharkhand Project Council (JEPC)
Dr. Avinav Kumar has been part of the education system since 1996 and reminisces over the vast changes in increasing access to education for children in Jharkhand. He speaks about how the purpose of education can be redefined to meet the needs and unique potential of young people towards the betterment of society.

In Conversation with Dr. Shashi Rao, Founder - Ananya Trust

Dr. Shashi Rao started the Ananya Trust in 1998 in Bangalore to provide a unique learning space for children who were not accepted in mainstream schools. She shares her approach to education which is shaped by children’s needs, is non-hierarchical, organic and engaging. She feels that education has to allow children to think independently and critically. Change will happen when systems believe in the child’s ability to decide for themselves.

Mr. B P Mandoli has been working in the education space since 1991 and he shares why Emotional Quotient, EQ, is more important than IQ in a student’s life. While we focus majorly on academic development, emotional development takes a backseat and takes a toll on students. He speaks about what the purpose of education should be.

Jerry Pinto shares about the limited choices available to him at school. He shares how as a student, Sociology helped him connect education to the outer world and how it changed his approach to learning. He shares how the markers of success within the  education system measure skills which are irrelevant in the outside world.

In Conversation with Harini Nagendra, Director - Research Center & Centre of Climate Change and Sustainability, Azim Premji University

Harini Nagendra is a professor of ecology at Azim Premji University, and a well-known public speaker, writer on issues of nature, sustainability and a crime fiction novelist. She shares how she entered the field of Ecology without any formal training. For her, success is to learn lifelong while enjoying the process of learning. Her vast experience in education makes her feel that helping students to Innovate and adapt while having fun is how the system should approach education.
